What is Microblading?

Microblading, also known as embroidery, microstroking and hair like strokes, is a form of Permanent Makeup that that involves using tiny needles which make up a small blade to help deposit special pigments under the skin to fill in sparse and thin eyebrows. Microblading can add fullness, shape, symmetry, and defined color tones to fair brows or to brows that have lost hair due to age or injury. Microblading creates results that look amazingly natural and requires no daily upkeep, so kiss your daily eyebrow routine goodbye.

Slate Medspa is the premier Microblading provider in NJ. We use the most advanced techniques to provide a results-oriented outcome. New to Slate Medspa? Call us today at 877-588-4646 to schedule a free consultation and save 20% off your first treatment.

What to expect from your Microblading treatment.

Our PMU artists use a small, handheld tool made up of tiny microneedles to deposit pigment under the first layer of skin via strokes that resemble brow hairs. Microblading is permanent as the pigment will stay in the deposited area long term, but does require a touch-up or ‘perfecting session’ within four to six weeks.

Our Microblading sessions include a thorough consultation and brow mapping prior to any work being done. We use your bone structure as a guide to create the most flattering eyebrow design to enhance your natural facial features. A topical numbing agent is used to make you comfortable throughout the process. Our specially trained PMU artist uses top of the line pigments specially formulated to last and be natural in tone. As each face is unique, timing varies, with the procedure typically lasting between 1 and 2 hours.

Microblading Aftercare

After the procedure the brows may be slightly swollen and the pigment will be at its darkest color. Some people may feel a bit sore in the treatment area once the numbing agent wears off. You will be given take home instructions to care for your new sleeked brows. Typically, it takes about a week for the color to fade into a natural shade. Special care is needed to not pick or remove the scabbing that occurs from the procedure. A perfecting session will be scheduled 4-6 weeks post initial treatment. This will “lock in” the pigment and address any strokes which sometimes lose pigment in the healing process. As the pigment is only inserted into the epidermis layer of skin, the color fades over time and yearly touch-ups are recommended to maintain your brows looking gorgeous.

What is Permanent Makeup?

Permanent makeup gives you the look of just-applied lipstick, lip liner, eyebrow pencil, and eyeliner. It’s done through a process called micropigmentation, where a tattoo pen is used to inject permanent ink into the skin.

Eyebrows
Perhaps microblading is just not enough coverage for your brows. A more defined, powder brow could be just the thing for you. Often referred to as ‘traditional brows’, this style uses a shading technique to fill in the brow area with a more fuller look.

Eyelid Liner & Eyelash Enhancements
Eyelid liner (upper, lower or both) involves implanting pigment on the eyelid in a solid line following the natural curve of the lids. Some clients prefer the eyeliner to be wedged-wider at the outer corner of the top lids as well for more dramatic effect.
Lash line enhancement is meant to create the appearance of thicker eyelashes by skillfully creating a thin dotted line instead of a more obvious solid line. Small dots are placed between the eyelashes simulate a full lash line. This is a more natural look than traditional eyelid liner.

Lips
Permanent lip color can give you the optical illusion of fuller looking lips. Beautiful, sensual lips are created by adding natural color where needed, achieving instant fullness and definition. Subtle corrections can be made to thin, uneven or asymmetrical lips and “lipstick bleed” is eliminated. Many clients choose to have the permanent lip line that slightly blends into the lips for a softer less defined appearance.

Benefits of Permanent Makeup:

  • No more reapplying makeup throughout the day

  • Permanent eyebrows, eyeliner and lips are smudge and smear proof!
  • No need to spend hours getting that perfect “cat eye” liner on BOTH eyes
  • Custom tailored to your skin type, color & shape

What to expect from your Permanent Makeup treatment.

Permanent Make Up is the art of implanting color into the skin. Sterile single use needles are used in either a “pen” device or a rotary tattoo gun. Our specially trained PMU artist use a small handheld tool to implant ink into the brows, eyelids or lips. The first two or three layers of skin are penetrated, making this procedure more superficial than traditional tattoos, so it is important to have a 4-6 week perfecting session to address pigment loss.

Our PMU artist will take special care in making sure the process is comfortable. Expect to have a thorough consultation and treatment tailored to your specific needs. Each procedure can take between 1 and 3 hours. We use a local anesthetic to numb the area being tattooed. Just like any tattoo, initially the color will appear brighter or darker before fading into a permanent tone. The area will be swollen for anywhere between 2-5 days and will crust over before healing.

Permanent Makeup Aftercare

Immediately after the procedure, the color will appear darker and brighter than expected, but usually fades up to 40-60% within 4 to 6 weeks. At this time a touchup is performed to put on the finishing touches. Depending on your lifestyle and facial regimen, you may need a touch up every 1-5 years after the initial treatment.
